The once sleepy fishing village is now the main township of Langkawi. Even though small in size, it does have quite a sufficient number of shops for the locals and tourists alike.
There are several hotels found in Kuah however many are cater more towards domestic clientele. However recent government efforts have led to the development of shopping malls and refurbishment of hotels to spur activity in Kuah Town and attract more foreign clientele.
One improvement is the new shopping mall, Langkawi Fair, which has a good selection of shops and restaurants. Only a kilometre from the ferry jetty Langkawi Fair makes a good stopover to do your essential shopping and banking before heading off to your designated resort.
